step 1. Bring the threaded needle through the bottom of the fabric just outside of the piece to be appliqued.
step 2.push the bottom of the thread down against the fabric and hold it there with your thumb
step 3.Meanwhile,bring the needle around and insert it just inside the piece to be appliqued
step 4. Bring the point of the needle throught the base fabric just outside of the piece to be appliqued.Important to note that the needle should be above the thread you are holding with your thumb.
step 5. Pull the needle through,still keeping the thread pushed down with your thumb
step 6.pull the thread taut
step 7.start again. and repeat the process.
Here I am using Jaxens project as an example.The “blanket stitch” should look like three sides of a square when done correctly.There should be a line of thread running along the outside of the piece to be appliqued with teeth of thread on the actual applique piece.As multi talented as you all are-I know you will get this in no time!Be sure to check out part two just below this one….
